I don't even think I knew the name of certain flowers until last year... and I'm still learning... Sure, I like flowers but ever since I started hanging out with my friend the florist, my eyes have opened to more than the simple gerber daisy. :)

I had the privilege of working with Vale of Enna on an event this past Saturday. I forgot how tiring weddings are from the floral sense but oh, so satisfying it is at the same time! [I think I need to start doing push-ups or some bicep curls]. Kenny Nakai Photography also stopped by to take some shots... Once he sends those out, I'll post those up because I'm sure they are 100 times better than the few that I got.

The wedding was at the Chicago Cultural Center. They had these breathtaking Tiffany domes... I paused for a few seconds in each room and took a peek up. I think I could have stared for a while... but it was back to work. :) The venue was wonderful to work with! They were very accommodating and helpful when we had questions or certain concerns.

I found these lit tiles so interesting... especially the one with a crack. I like the slight imperfection. It added a bit more character.

After a long day of work, we had a scrumptious dinner across the street. I felt a bit sheepish taking out my little camera to get a shot of my salmon dinner or cream cheese bacon dessert. Kind of wished I did now... I don't think I'll ever have bacon on my dessert again, but it was very scrumptious!

I'm seriously considering purchasing an intro SLR... Thanks for letting me tag along and soak in the day!

wedding pictures

I am slowly gathering pictures from various weddings that I coordinated/planned this past year. It's taking some time to edit the pictures to the right size. Each photographer has been gracious enough to send me low-res pictures to write about these weddings. I hope to write about one each week until I get all caught up!

In the meantime, I'll post this picture. Latoya and Chris had a sweet ceremony right next to the tent reception with an intimate gathering of dear friends and family. She used highlights of yellow all over and it brought such a nice touch to the wedding!

the chicago skyline...

  When I first met with the bride, K, in February, she told me about her venue and how the view was phenomenal on the terrace/fourth floor. She told me about the breathtaking unobstructed view of the Chicago skyline. When we went in for our venue walk-through, I was a little skeptical. kekeke... I looked up at the building and thought, how great of a view could it be?

Isn't it beautiful? No future buildings can ever obstruct the view. :) This is the Grand Piazza on 1431 Taylor St, Chicago. The first floor is a sports hall of fame with jerseys and other sports goods from amazing hall of famers.

And there's a spiral staircase from the first floor to the basement. Right before we gathered the bridal party, I took a quick picture of the architecture...

to gather around and cheer on michael phelps and his 8th gold medal! Everyone, including the bride and groom, gathered around to watch this race. [they are sitting down in the middle] I was too absorbed in the race myself to get a shot of everyone cheering. :)

fireworks!

I'm really late in posting this, but I had such an amazing view at this venue! Katie and Mike celebrated their marriage at the Mid-America Club. The venue just happened to overlook Navy Pier and so we paused the dancing to watch the fireworks. I <3 fireworks so it was definitely one of the highlights and a nice bonus for all of the guests!

[image courtesy of carpenter photography] btw, Carpenter Photography is awesome to work with. They set up a slideshow of all of the pictures they took from the day after dinner which the guests loved! They are located out of Indiana, but travel all over. Hope we work together again! :)

a little bit of this... a little bit of that...

happy first day of may! somehow, april went by in a flash but also felt like one of the longest 30 days.

anyways, i'm really looking forward to the next few months. the weekends are packed with weddings or events that i thought would take a while to come and now it's already here!

[side note] i'm fully booked in may, june, and august. july and september are filling up as well! i'm pretty excited for each wedding. no wedding is the same, that's for sure... and so no coordination is ever the same as well. so i'm going to make sure i bring my camera from now on and snap away a few things that made each wedding stand out. i only wish i did that with the last wedding i had on april 12. :(

i'm in the midst of getting out a set of invitations for a client. and i have found this handy tool to be be a life saver! it really does wonders and takes away little adhesive pieces. for a perfectionist like me, any little piece of adhesive bothers me when it's showing up. and if you try to rub it off with your hand, it only makes it worse... so it's best to invest in this little eraser concoction for $2! i buy mine through stampin' up, but i think if you do a search you can find this product online.

program

In the midst of preparing to coordinate for a bride and groom this past weekend on 04.12.08, I also went ahead and created these programs for another wedding. She was kind enough to send me a link to her wedding pictures and when I saw the slideshow, I saw those programs.

This photographer - Gerber + Scarpelli went ahead and created a mini slideshow for the couple immediately after the wedding [which I think is awesome, because who can wait a whole month for the final pictures?]! And they were kind enough to send me pictures of the programs... which is awesome because I always seem to forget to take one. :(

Based on the pictures, can you even tell that it was 40 degrees, rainy and dreary the whole day??? :) Best wishes Lizzie and Trevor!

what a weekend!

Coordination is in full gear for 2008. It was a bit hectic and the weather wasn't too cooperative, but in the end, the bride and groom were happy and that is the most important thing! Of course, I forgot to take any pictures... but I realized this, I need to invest in a fanny pack! I know, it's not the most  attractive thing, but it'll help having everything available as I run around... haha. Once I get one, I'll get a shot of it and post it up. I looked and they are not the most attractive... the last time I used one was in high school.... w-a-y back in the day!
