ADORABLE way to spell out F-A-M-I-L-Y. Or if you have enough people (& animals), you could spell out your last name, depending on how long it is, maybe everyone can take 2 letters or the older ones can take 2. Either way, it's cute if you can work this into your photoshoot!
A few weeks ago, I stopped by one of my most favorite coffee shops in Chicago. I'm not a black coffee drinker, but when I'm at Julius Meinl, I can drink it straight up, well, with the help of their delectable biscuits. But would you know it, they were out of the biscuits??? I think this is the second time I've gone when they've been out in the past couple of months. (insert frowny face, haha). So I had one of their biscottis and of course, it was even more delicious!
I just loved the way the sun peeked onto the couch across from me and I had to snap away... moments like this, I'm grateful to carry, er lug, around my camera... to capture the few moments to myself where I can enjoy a nice cup of coffee!
Oh I wish I purchased an SLR before 2009 came. sigh. It's been on my mind a lot to purchase one so I'm in the process of doing some research. Plus my current point and shoot is dying on me... :(
I chatted with Sarah and we somehow started talking about old school cameras. I quickly ran upstairs to find my dad's old camera. I can't believe what a jewel it is. I started playing around with the Nikon and realized how much work it
used to be to take a picture. It slowly started coming back to me. My dad would let me take a picture here and there when he wasn't busy taking shots of his own. I love the sound of taking a shot or getting the next one ready. [Whoever invented auto focus is a genius... It's hard work focusing on each object!]
I love the velour on the inside. It reminds me of the red velour couches we used to own in the 80s!
He kept all of the manuals [I even found my jr. high graduation program in the bag!]
I especially love the bag. I think I may have to start carrying it around... well maybe after I wash it down a bit.
I think I'll go out and take some pictures tomorrow since the weather's supposed to warm up. Maybe it'll keep me occupied for a bit before I actually go and purchase an SLR. But the camera sure is heavy!
I am slowly gathering pictures from various weddings that I coordinated/planned this past year. It's taking some time to edit the pictures to the right size. Each photographer has been gracious enough to send me low-res pictures to write about these weddings. I hope to write about one each week until I get all caught up!
In the meantime, I'll post this picture. Latoya and Chris had a sweet ceremony right next to the tent reception with an intimate gathering of dear friends and family. She used highlights of yellow all over and it brought such a nice touch to the wedding!
Hope you have a lovely weekend. It's supposed to snow here in Chicago. :(
I'm really late in posting this, but I had such an amazing view at this venue! Katie and Mike celebrated their marriage at the Mid-America Club. The venue just happened to overlook Navy Pier and so we paused the dancing to watch the fireworks. I <3 fireworks so it was definitely one of the highlights and a nice bonus for all of the guests!
[image courtesy of carpenter photography] btw, Carpenter Photography is awesome to work with. They set up a slideshow of all of the pictures they took from the day after dinner which the guests loved! They are located out of Indiana, but travel all over. Hope we work together again! :)
Congratulations Katie and Mike. It was beautiful event!
