We had to eat some dessert with the apples… so we made some apple pie + apple crisp.

There’s a whole lot of sugar that goes into apple pies!

We passed the time while waiting for the apple desserts by playing cut throat uno… it gets pretty intense when we play. Every man for himself!

I forget what this game was called but it was pretty hilarious! There’s 3 rounds You write down a person’s name on each slip of paper: can be famous or not… as long as someone else in the group knows their name. In between each round, you throw the slips of paper back into the bowl and re-use them. So it’s really important to pay attention to each name!

• Round 1: use any words to describe the person on the slip of paper…
• Round 2: use only ONE to describe the person
• Round 3: act out the person

Food and laughter… just what the doctor ordered!

a quick brunch

I had brunch with 2 dear friends… gosh, I think I have known them for, let’s just say more than half of my life! We don’t get together too often but when we do, it’s like the days we lived together in college… we just gab away about anything and everything! I brought over some brunch: bento box style! I really like my flower-shaped cookie cutters. I think I’ve used them on just about anything I can!

Breakfast sandwich: Pillsbury Grand Biscuits, lunchmeat ham, American cheese, and an egg omelet.
 
2 different styles of spam musubi: inspired by here and here. And then threw in some large grapes in a cupcake liner. I also made sure to place a layer of wax paper in between the food and the tissue paper because the food has a tendency to create oil marks on the tissue paper.

chopstick holders: I tucked in a little napkin too. Perfect for parties/picnics! I tucked them in between the folds of the takeout box and wrapped it with thick twine.

I’ve been inspired reading Zakka Life… I just wish I lived near a Daiso! Hope you have a lovely weekend!

welcome home!

I recently acquired a Kitchenaid mixer. I have often dreamt of owning one… no joke. There are many times I’m at a store and I’ll look at one, even placing it in my cart… but I never ended up purchasing one. It seemed too high of a price. But alas, I have one now!

And now, I need to bake and use it to the fullest! So many recipes, so little time. But this is where my dessert cook books will come in handy. [and hopefully, I won’t have any more splatters all over my walls and other appliances!]
